Sound Effects being Excerised in Our Film ☮ ☮ ☮

Sound effects was always something that my group wanted to use within our film, due to our genre being a thriller we wanted to create obscurity and cryptic mood within the use of our soundtrack and sound effects. The following list is all the sound effects we used throughout our film, including when we used them and to what effect we want them to portray to the audience.

Boom Sound Effect

We used this sound effect multiple times, whilst over our title credit at the very end when our film title is displayed, at the beginning when our production credits are run and also when our reviving protagonists hand moves towards the end of our film. We wanted to use this sound effect as it installed both fear and linked with power, due to its loud and low pitched note, Using this meant that it would scare the audience with the sudden loudness we also though that it would show vital information when this sound effect played, thus using it when our protagonist is supposedly alive and when our film title is shown to let the audience gather on the important parts to the plot of this film. We believed that it would be foolish not to add in a thud like sound effect within a thriller film, as this is a main necessity to a thriller theme to hear the daunting sounds that would make the audience jump and scare.

Ringing and Voicemail Beep Tone

Voicemail Beep tone:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8vDh_eIvmo
Our group really liked the idea of merging two scenes together audio wise, so with that in mind we decided to use a ringing tone throughout both shots when “Ellie” is calling “Tara’, and when Tara is being suffocated, we cut back and forth a couple of times in order to build the tension and with the ringing being quite loud, low pitched and slow the scene is then made to be shown more dramatic and tense on the audience. The voicemail beep we decided to choose was quite loud and high pitched, we decided on this as it showed a contrast to the tone of the ringing and therefore the audience could identify that both Ellie would be ending the friendship and most importantly that Tara was dead.

Heavy Breathing Sound Effect

As our protagonist is revealed to have actually survived due to the text message that our other protagonist Ellie receives from the Tara, who was only briefly seen moving her fingers, we though that adding this towards the end of the film whilst over our movie title, it would show a vast contrast from her death as Tara had died due to suffocation so her deep breathing would show her trying to regain strength, showing that she is a powerful character due to her ability to regain consciousness, after being suffocated to death.

Time Managament For Deadline ☮ ☮ ☮

Filming Process Coming to an End

The deadline to hand in our opening scene to our films is on the 12th of February 2016, Meaning we have three lessons left to complete all editing and blogging within our time that we have left.

Tuesday 9th February
In this time the most vital part of my time will go into making sure our films is perfect, which will include the soundtrack most importantly I want all sound levels to correspond with what's going on verbally and action wise when on screen. My main focus when it comes to editing revolves around making sure continuity and genuine and professional looks are being given off from this film making it seem as "Hollywood" as we possibly can. We will achieve this by making sure that we have made the best possible decisions by acknowledging our teacher's guidance and input, but most importantly making sure within ourselves that this film represents all the hard work and effort we have put into the film.

Thursday 11th February
With this being the last full lesson our group has to make sure the film is complete and ready to hand in, again I will be perfecting and re watching the film over and over to make sure that everything is perfect, although I would like the film to be completed on this day as continuing to edit on Friday would show to much pressure on having everything done by the end of that class. My entire attention will be on the film throughout that lesson and will be completed for Friday.

Friday 12th February
With this being the final day before we have to hand in our film, I will be making sure that my blog is also perfected having my opening analysis' in the correct number so that I have everything completed for when they will be marked. Also trying to get as many interviewing videos filmed within that lesson and put onto my blog, to show as much of the progress and detail we made within our film, including possibly more evidence of what we do in class.

What We Get Up to in our Lessons and Our Editing Process- Timelapse ☮ ☮ ☮

The first part of this video we demonstrate what we achieve in our lessons this mainly is perfecting our blogs and having our main priority focus on editing and perfecting our film, but we also give ourselves the time to document our process as we continue into having our film progress. For our software when editing we use adobe premiere elements, Our main focus when using this software is getting our soundtrack on cue with our different scenes, meaning when we suddenly flash onto our protagonist being suffocate we needed our soundtrack when there's a sudden and dramatic thud, to line up with the suffocation scene as soon as it comes onto screen. This is what you can mainly see during our time lapse, also in that section of the video you can see me adjusting the sound bars along this was because we were using two different parts of the song and different sections of the film, so I wanted the two clips to line up so when we finished one clip we wouldn't be able to tell a difference when the next soundtrack clip came into play.
